Calista told me today Festival of Praise's sermon: title : the atmosphere in church bringing about revival [acts 9:31] -the 4 kind of atmosphere a church should have for growth (a) peace -peace is referring to peace with God, peace of God, and peace with people (b) encouragement -encourage is to edify, to build each other up. - must look for e good in others and encourage them, den see their potential and help them to achieve it, followed by encouraging by speaking e truth( discipleship) - and God is not our only comforter, but He will place people around us 2 comfort us (c) comfort - comfort is like u come along side with someone when they're going through difficult times - Bible says God brings us THROUGH the fire and not over the fire or under the fire - sometimes we're like ducks, on e surface we look calm but inside we're paddling like siao (d) fear of the lord - An example : when you are driving and you see a police car behind you, you tend to be more cautious even if e police car is not like chasing after u.. merely the presence of the police car makes you a little scared and you'd check ur seat belt, stop talking on e phone, etc - same for the fear of the Lord : - we ought to live life and be conscious that God is looking at us all e time: when we surf the net, God is looking, when we talk on the phone with our friends God is listening.. - so are we doing things that are pleasing to god? - and lastly, obedience is the ultimate form of worship
